Solar Panels Prices
If you are thinking of getting solar panels fitted you will be wondering how much it is likely to cost you. The truth is that it will depend on whether you can take advantage of a free installation or not. They are still available but the window for getting them is closing fast.
The idea is that a free installation is paid for by a solar company because they benefit from the feed in tariffs that are normally paid to the consumer by the government. However these tariffs may change and if they do, it will no longer be cost effective for solar companies to provide the installation free of charge.
If you pay for your panels and installation you can expect to pay around £2,500 to £3,500 per kilowatt. Most houses in the UK will require solar panels that can generate between 1kW and 4kW of power. It all depends on the size of the roof and how many panels can be fitted to it.
The good news is that you can generate real savings once your installation is in place, even if you pay for it on your own. Firstly you’ll save on your energy bills. You’ll also benefit from being paid for the energy you create and the energy you don’t use and feed back to the national grid.

Solar Panel Costs & Returns
How much can you expect to pay for your solar panel installation, and what kind of return can you get?
The cost of an installation is normally calculated per kilowatt of energy that will be produced. This in turn is worked out according to the size of the roof of the property. Most houses in the UK will be able to generate around 2kW of energy from their installation, but it is acceptable to think in terms of generating between 1kW and 4kW depending on your roof size.
When it comes to the installation costs (which will include the panels) they normally come in the region of £2,500 to £3,500 per kilowatt. You can also expect to make money in two ways:
• You will spend less and save more on your energy bills
• You will also make money from the feed in tariff on the energy you generate, as well as making more on any surplus energy you don’t use and send back to the grid
